LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, the Mexican American Bar Association of Los Angeles County (MABA) endorsed Marina Torres and her campaign for Los Angeles City Attorney. Marina Torres is a federal prosecutor for the Central District of California. The endorsement highlighted the acumen and personal experience Torres would bring to the office of the Los Angeles City Attorney.

Below is an excerpt from the MABA’s endorsement letter:

“In reaching its decision MABA gave significant weight to your work on federal policy and your contributions to the DACA program while working for the Obama Administration…We are confident that as Los Angeles City Attorney, you will continue creating and implementing policies that will advance the rights of the residents of the City of Los Angeles, Latinos, and all communities of color. For all these reasons, we wholeheartedly endorse your candidacy for Los Angeles City Attorney, and we wish you great success in your campaign.”

Created in 1959, MABA is the most active bar organization in the Los Angeles area for Latino/a lawyers, law students, and judges. It supports community efforts and advancing Latinos in the legal profession through programs such as the Judicial Externship Scholarship Program, the High School Scholarship Program and its Law Student Mentorship Program.

“I am beyond thrilled and honored to have the support of the Mexican American Bar Association,” said Torres. “Representation matters! As Los Angeles looks to build a future that serves all communities, particularly those that have been marginalized for so long, it needs leaders who can relate to these communities. I understand the issues because I have lived them and I will work tirelessly to address them.”
