LA Port Police Association Endorses Marina Torres for LA City Attorney
Endorsement adds to growing support from law enforcement and unions
LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 65, the union representing the Los Angeles Port Police Association, endorsed Marina Torres and her campaign for Los Angeles City Attorney. Marina A. Torres is a federal prosecutor for the Central District of California.
The Los Angeles Port is the busiest port in the United States, and the Los Angeles Port Police force is at the core of port security. The men and women of the Port Police have been working hard, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, for over 100 years to keep the Port of LA safe. The members of the Port Police work closely with other law enforcement agencies and security partners, such as the FBI, DEA, and DHS, to monitor and secure over 7,500 acres along 43 miles of waterfront.
“The Los Angeles Port Police keep our communities, workers, and country safe everyday as millions of containers move through our Port of Los Angeles,” said Torres. “The men and women of the Port Police work tirelessly to keep the busiest port in the country secure. They work closely with a number of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law. I am proud to have their endorsement.”
